Victoria Chebotaeva
I am a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Southern California. I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina, where my research focused on mathematical modeling of epidemics, particularly SEIR models with cross-diffusion dynamics and Erlang distribution.
I am deeply committed to inclusive and student-centered teaching. During my time at South Carolina, I served as an Instructional Peer Mentor for first-year Ph.D. students beginning their teaching journeys. I also worked with the TRIO program, supporting first-generation college students through academic coaching and mathematics instruction.
My current interests include alternative assessment methods, active learning, and building equitable learning environments in undergraduate mathematics classrooms.
I am currently teaching Linear Algebra and Introduction to Proof courses. In addition to teaching, I lead an undergraduate research group in mathematical modeling. Together, we explore applied problems through the lens of differential equations and computational simulations, giving students the opportunity to engage with research at an early stage in their academic careers.
This past summer, I also participated in STEM for the Future, an international program dedicated to inspiring and supporting students in STEM fields through workshops and mentoring.
